OUTBOUND TRAINING

Last Saturday,we went to the Navy Institute of Trincomalee Navy Camp for the Out Bound Training as a amazing ppd session....

Both first year and second year students participated for that 2 day training on 9th and 10th December.Sarasi madam divided us into 2 buses and then we started our journey.We enjoy a lot while traveling .There were so many Tamil friends in our bus.So we divided to as Tamil and Sinhala then sang sinhala and Tamil songs one by one.It was very funny...We had our breakfast on the way..then on the way there is a beautiful tank with beautiful environment “Kantale Tank”.there we stopped the bus and took a batch photo.We could reach the camp at about 10 a.m.






 Then they gave places to stay us,one place to girls and another for boys.then we had to go to that place and be prepared with the bottom and shirt to do exercises as soon as possible.after readying we came to the naval institute and there the navy officer addressed us and gave some special informations.then we had our lunch at there and that was a perfect lunch.

After the lunch we went to a beautiful beach for do our activities.First of all they divided us to 4 groups named  “Alpha”,”Bravo”,”Charlie”,”Delta”.I was in team "bravo".our first task is to go through a model,we have to think that it is a hightation line.8 members from each group participated to that event.7 members of bravo group was abled to do that task.so they are the winners of that event.after that event navy officers addressed us and told that leadership of us is not perfect in that task and adviced us to build that in the upcoming events.




 Our second task is to pass a small teak ball through a small pipe.there were 10 members from each group to that event and there is a special way to touch and join the pipes.we had to do that event under rules of that events.


 After that event,other task is,we were given 10 small wood blocks.that wood block should be placed between two members and it must be gripped on the front member’s back and back member’s stomach.like that all the 11 members had to connect with each other and hands should on the head.we had to walk to the end line without falling a wood block.for that task we need a good cooperation,good leadership and good communication within each other.
                After that event,other task is to fill a cylinder with two opened edges and holes.there were 15 members from each group to that task.however we had to cover that holes and an opened edge to fill that cylinder and water was taken by the sea.we worked according to a plan and we were able to complete that task.after that we had our tea break.




 After tea break other task is a kind of volleyball game.5 members can participate for it and 5 chances for each team likewise there should be 3 teams from each group then altogether 15 chances.task is to pass the volleyball to the other side above the net using a “small cap”.four members had to throw t
hat ball and one member on the other side had to catch that ball.that is more fun and challenging game.

 Then our next task is the tug-o-war.we had to work as a team there.navy officers adviced us to how to do that and that is a knockout game.although it is a very hard game it is really fun and interesting.there is a separate chance for the girls also to do that game.we all tried to win till the last moment.these are the tasks that we were given on the first day.
In night we had to perform our events like songs,dramas etc.that place was beautifully arranged by wonderful fire camp by navy officers for us.
we enjoyed a lot there by performing our events and then we had our dinner there.After 
 having dinner we came back to that place and sleep.

SECOND DAY..........

After having breakfast we were divided in to 4 groups.Our first task of that day is the compass march from combat training unit to elephant point.
navy officers taught us to how to use the compass and how to go using the compass and map in the jungle.they explained us about what are barriers that we have to face when we are going in the junge and how to face to that barriers by showing examples.after a long journey in the jungle we came to the elephant point.then there we had our tea break and small rest there.that was our last leadership activity and we got many experiences,we learnt many things from all of that leadership activities.

After finishing leadership activities we went to Naval museum.We could see so many things such as machine guns,suicide boats,artillery guns,ship engines,ship components,army dresses,bombs etc.







After visiting naval museum we had our lunch.Next we all thanked for the navy officers for their great cooperation and gave some small sounier .At last we took photos with them.

Then we had our dinner at Dambulla.We come back to the university at about 12.00pm.


We learn so many things from that outbound training...such as

  • leadership
  • Teamwork
  • Cooperation
  • How to face barriers
  • How to improve communication skills
That was a amazing wonderful memorable  training for all of us.........Thank you madam....

BARTER PUZZLE

Barter Puzzle.. In last PPD session we had to do a very interesting game named "Barter Puzzle".First of all,Sarasi madam divided us to three groups and named a group leaders for each groups ... Then madam gave three magazine papers to three leaders.Leaders showed that magazine paper to the members.After that madam said to leaders to cut it to 100 pieces.One of member in each group helped to do that for leaders. Then we had to  rebuild the magazine paper as before within 45 minutes.we started to set the pieces to make the pictures but some pieces were mixed from other teams. I f we wanted to that pieces from any group,we had to give them to another  pieces.
